Commissions help shape the future of our community. The City has 9 advisory commissions. Volunteers selected for these commissions become educated about specific issues/projects in specific areas (e.g. transportation), participate in public meetings with staff and forward recommendations to the City Council. Commissions usually meet 1 time per month. The 9 commissions are: Advisory Board of Health, Arts Commission, Charter Commission, Civil Service Commission, Community Services Commission, Friendship City Commission, Human Rights Commission, Planning Commission & Transportation Commission.
